Hire a wheelchair car this summer
If you’re planning on having a ‘staycation’ and holidaying in the UK this year then you may want to stay in a certain place or you might want to have a number of day trips locally or nationally.
At WavsGB we can’t plan a holiday for you – but we can help you arrange a means to get around with a wheelchair passenger.
We have a large range of vehicles available for short term hire, anything from a single day up to two weeks, or for even better rates you can hire for a month or even longer!
So whether you are planning to hire for individual day trips or a longer period – keep reading and we’ll tell you how to choose the best car for your summer travels.
Hire cars for wheelchair passengers – how to choose
The type of wheelchair vehicle you choose to hire depends on your personal circumstances, there is a lot of choice but it generally boils down to one or two key factors.
How many passengers will you need to transport?
It’s safe to assume that if you looking to hire a WAV that one of your passengers will be a wheelchair user.. but how many other seated passengers do you need to transport.
If you’re planning a family holiday or day trip then you may need a car that can carry up to three or four additional passengers, or perhaps you need a smaller car with just one or two passengers. If you only want a smaller vehicle you might also want to consider a wheelchair up-front vehicle where the wheelchair passenger sits alongside the driver.
Automatic or manual wheelchair vehicles
Like standard cars – wheelchair accessible vehicles are available with manual or automatic gearboxes. The one you choose will most likely be the one you are most familiar with or the one you have a licence for.
There is a good mix of manual and automatic gearboxes available across all models so you should be able to find a vehicle suitable for your needs.
Budgeting for wheelchair car hire
An important factor when deciding on your disability car hire is how much you have available to spend. Your budget will dictate how long you can have the vehicle for and which type of vehicle will meet your needs.
At WavsGB we have a great range of vehicles to suit every budget and we don’t have any hidden costs.
- Daily hire – great for day trips and short journeys
- Long term hire – hire all summer long!
- Perfect for disabled family members and relatives
- Arrange an inclusive and accessible holiday
