Wheelchair Transfer

Wheelchair transfer vehicles allow some wheelchair users to be able to easily move from the wheelchair to either the passenger seat or the drivers seat via a powered swivel chair.

Up-Front Passenger

In a ride Up-Front Passenger WAV the wheelchair user is secured in the front passenger space next to the driver with access via a rear or front ramp. Some Up-Front WAVs come with a removable front passenger seat.

Switch Conversion

Switch conversions, also called Combined Drive/Up-Front allow the wheelchair passenger to be secured as the front passenger or the driver. Switch vehicles usually have a removable/swappable front seat, or two front seats which can be removed or both left in place to use as a regular car.

Rear Wheelchair

The most common type of WAV. Rear passenger WAVS allow the wheelchair to travel in the rear alongside or behind seated passengers.

Multi-Position

Multi-Position Wheelchair vehicles allow the wheelchair to be postioned in various locations within the vehicle.

Drive From

Drive-From vehicles allow the wheelchair user to drive the WAV. Usually these vehicles have (or require) hand-controls and a wheelchair docking station.
