This expansion marks a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing mobility solutions for individuals with disabilities.
As the trading name of Roberts (Bath) Ltd, a family-run business with over 35 years of experience, WavsGB specialises in the hire and sale of WAVs, offering a vital service to customers across the entire UK (and even beyond). The company’s state-of-the-art facility, recently updated, provides a dedicated space for customers to explore and experience different wheelchair-accessible vehicles, ensuring the most suitable adaptations can be demonstrated and purchased in a private and supportive environment.
The new planned expansion will allow WavsGB to carry out vehicle work on-site rather than outsourcing, streamlining operations and improving efficiency. In addition ther will be more space to display and demonstrate these specialist vehicles. This development will also create local job opportunities, reduce the company’s carbon footprint, and meet the growing demand for adapted electric vehicles.
Sustainability remains a key focus for WavsGB. A large portion of the existing facility is already powered by solar panels, and the new building will incorporate additional solar panels and battery storage, enabling the company to generate, store, and utilise its own electricity. Additionally, WavsGB has installed electric vehicle charging points and continues to expand its range of wheelchair-accessible electric vehicles.
The expansion has received strong support locally, including backing from Marksbury Parish Council Councillor Matt McCabe who recognised WavsGB’s role as a key local employer. Bath & North East Somerset Council planners concluded that the development would have a minimal impact on the surrounding Green Belt while acknowledging the essential service and functionality the facility provides.
