WAVs for sale
At WavsGB we specialise in selling used wheelchair accessible vehicles and while a large proportion of our sales is to customers buying their first ever wheelchair accessible vehicle, there are also increasing numbers of people who are upgrading their existing wheelchair cars.
People generally change their wheelchair adapted vehicle for a number of reasons
- Want a newer vehicle
Many customers like to keep their vehicles ‘refreshed’ and replace them regularly. Sometimes to get the latest model, a design feature on a newer model or they just prefer to keep their vehicle ‘refreshed’ to reduce the likelihood of faults or servicing costs - Circumstances have changed
It’s quite common for circumstances to change over time and this can affect the type of wheelchair vehicle you need- Wheelchair uses requires different wheelchair
It may be that an illness has progressed and a larger more supportive wheelchair is required. A new WAV may be needed to be able to carry the larger wheelchair. Or it could be that you have a more sleek smaller wheelchair that means you can switch to a smaller wheelchair vehicle - The family dynamic has changed
Perhaps the ‘family sized’ car is no longer required after some birds have flown the nest and a smaller one is required. Or perhaps you have a new arrival and you need a WAV with an extra seat or two
- Wheelchair uses requires different wheelchair
Occasionally people buy a larger vehicle for a number of reasons (more space, ability to carry a number of other passengers), and while it serves them well over time they may decide that going forward they’d rather have a smaller vehicle for easier parking and generally zipping around. Not dissimilar from downsizing your house as you get older.
While most WAV purchasers opt for a rear passenger vehicle (meaning the wheelchair user sits in the back), occasionally the wheelchair passenger may find they would prefer to sit in the front. This is especially true of families with older children who may not travel as much as they used to with their parents. An up-front wheelchair accessible vehicle allows a parent (or any wheelchair user) to sit up front alongside the driver rather than in the back.
The converted vehicles available from us all offer an easy and straightforward solution to wheelchair transportation but on occasion one person may find they prefer a different conversion type. Different ramps, different equipment and remote controlled winches or tailgates can tempt people to try different conversions. For example as someone gets older they may need a bit more assistance boarding the wheelchair – that’s when they decide that a powered tailgate and winch would be a huge help. We keep most types of WAV conversions in stock.
Whatever your reason for upgrading, at WavsGB we try to make it as easy as possible to change your vehicle – regardless of where you originally bought it from.
Upgrading your wheelchair vehicle
We keep a large range or ever-changing vehicles in stock. Our range is always being updated and we generally have at least a couple of models from the popular manufacturers in stock. We keep a range of sizes from two seats up to six seats (and sometimes larger), with different fuel types, gearboxes and seating configurations we have a WAV to suit most needs.
We’ll offer you a fair quote for your existing vehicle in part-exchange for the vehicle you wish to buy.
