Extras designed to make life easier
We think this car offers the ‘full package’ in terms of what you could expect from a used wheelchair access vehicle, but this VW Caravelle goes a few steps further. Originally adapted for wheelchairs by GM Coachwork on behalf of Motability, this WAV comes with a remote operated powered tailgate and ramp. The ramp can be lowered or raised at the touch of a button by the wheelchair user, passenger or driver allowing easy entry to the vehicle. Access to the vehicle for passenger is also easier with powered sliding doors on both sides.
With power steering, power mirrors, stability control, hand controls and privacy glass – we think this used wheelchair vehicle ticks all the boxes.
Flexibility for wheelchair passengers and drivers
The conversion by GM Coachworks allows for a fantastic amount of flexibility for wheelchair users. The vehicle can be easily configured to allow a disabled driver to drive, the driver seat swivels to allow transfer from a wheelchair and the switchable hand controls and a demountable passenger footbrake offer alternative control. Of course the vehicle can carry the wheelchair passenger easily and comfortably in the rear or even transport a mobility scooter instead.
