When you’re in the market for a new wheelchair accessible vehicle it can be a daunting prospect, especially if you are unfamiliar with vehicles that can transport wheelchairs with their passengers or mobility scooters. Buying your first WAV can make your head spin – there are so many options, and sometimes it can be just as confusing for those that are buying their second or third wheelchair adapted vehicle.
There are many factors to take into account including your budget, fuel type, manual or automatic and how many seats you need – amongst many other options you’ll need to think about.

Buying a standard car can generally be boiled down to two questions; Do I like it? Can I afford it?
With a wheelchair accessible vehicle, you’re not just buying a vehicle for yourself, you’re buying it specifically to carry a wheelchair passenger, it needs to meet their needs but also the needs of the driver and the other passengers too.
Even if you find a make and model which you like – chances are there will be many different versions of it, with variable seating configurations, different access and amounts of space for the wheelchair passenger and of course their will be different levels and types of equipment (electric windows/air-con etc..). There is a lot of choice and you can end up going around in circles.
Finding the best wheelchair vehicle for you
At WavsGB, we speak to a lot of customers everyday, either in person at our showroom near Bath or on the phone and we’re pleased to say we help a lot of people find the best vehicle for them.. sometimes even when they don’t know what they want themselves. You don’t always have to spend a lot to get the vehicle right for you.
Online, things can be a little bit different, where you can be left to your own devices. Live chat is great and we’ve helped many people find the best disabled car by asking a few questions, for some it can still be a bit overwhelming and they may not want to ‘chat’ to someone to ask for help.

Our WAV finder will ‘ask’ you a series of questions and by answering each one (via multiple choice questions or sliders) it will cleverly filter all our vehicles based on your answers and displaying only the vehicles that match your needs.
How to use our WAV Finder
Using our WAV finder is easy, just answer a few questions and it will help you find the perfect wheelchair accessible vehicle for you!

- Go to https://www.wavsgb.com/finder
- Use the slider to enter your budget range Drag each end of the slider to set your minimum and maximum budget
- Select the type(s) of the wheelchair vehicle you are looking for.Where in the vehicle would you like the wheelchair located?
- How many seats do you need?Drag each end of the slider to set the maximum and minimum number of seats – including the driver
- Choose your gearbox
- Choose your fuel type
- Finally you can select any features or equipment that you really want..e.g. winch, bluetooth etc..
- Press ‘Find WAVs’ and you’ll be given a list of WAVs that meet your requirements
If the finder cannot find any vehicles that meet your requirements, or you haven’t got many to choose from, you can adjust your selections on the results screen. You don’t have to make a selection for every question, for example if you’re not worried about the fuel type leave this blank to get more results across all fuel types.
The results screen also has extra choices that can help you narrow down your search even further.
