WAV Hire - A Guide

If you’ve never hired a wheelchair accessible vehicle before, it might seem a bit daunting or overwhelming. Don’t worry, we’re here to make it easy for you.

Our wheelchair hire vehicles are based on how many seats you require in additio to the wheelchair passenger

If you’re not sure what’s best for you – contact us and we can advise you on suitable vehicles for your requirements.

Collecting your vehicle

1: When to arrive

Arrive at the office about 20-30 minutes before your wheelchair adapted car hire is booked.

2: What to bring

3: The vehicle

We’ll take you out to the vehicle and show you around, including how to use the winch and secure the wheelchair. If you have any questions please ask.

Wheelchair vehicles are the same to drive as a car or van.

4: Before you drive off:

Take a few moments to familiarise yourself with the vehicle, and make sure the wheelchair is secured correctly before you head off.

Once you’re happy, you’re good to go!

Returning your vehicle

1: Fill the tank
We operate a ‘full to full’ fuel policy. We supply the wheelchair adapted car with a full tank and ask that it is returned with a full tank.
2: Return the keys

Park the vehicle in an allocated parking area (We’ll show you this before you leave)

Hand the keys to us in the office. We’ll inspect the vehicle and refund your deposit.

…and that’s it!

3: Out of hours returns

Occasionally you may need to return the car to us before we open or after we have closed.

We’re happy for you to do this – we’ll tell you where to leave the van and where the secure box for the keys is located.

4: Out of hours deposit returns
If you return the vehicle after hours you will need to call us (after 12pm on the next working day) with your card to hand so we can refund you over the phone.
