A wheelchair which is going to be used in a wheelchair accessible vehicle must be approved for transport in a WAV after being crash tested.

If a wheelchair has been certified for use within a vehicle it will be marked on the wheelchair. The wheelchair will display an anchor symbol (below) on the frame of the wheelchair, usually on the front of the wheelchair frame.

Wheelchairs that have not been tested should not be used in a vehicle and may not be able to be secured safely.

It is your responsibility to make the sure the wheelchair is safe and fitted securely.

All our vehicles include insurance, but this does not cover contents, punctures, door mirror damage or damage sustained through driving through Wildlife Parks.

In the event of an accident you are liable to pay the excess.

The standard excess for WAV’s is £1500 but this can be reduced to £500 by taking the collision damage waiver option.

The waiver is available at the time of hire for a small extra cost per day of hire
Excess waiver does not cover impact damage with stationary objects.

Yes as per terms of our insurance we have to charge a deposit for each vehicle hire.
Our standard deposit is £250 and this is typically refunded when the vehicle is returned.

If the vehicle has not been refuelled, or there is damage – these costs may be taken from your deposit, but we will notify you in advance.

In some cases certain drivers may be required to pay a larger deposit (for example drivers just below or above the age limits or people with previous convictions on their licence)

Yes, we’re always happy to provide a service to most types of organisation that may require occasional or regular wheelchair vehicle hire.

We already work with many organisations, charities and local councils/government all over the UK.

Yes – our hire vehicle prices are on a sliding scale.
Hires which are over seven days will benefit from a cheaper daily rate and the longer you hire the cheaper it is per day.

If you are looking for a long term hire we can arrange delivery*.
If you are looking for a shorter term hire you can still hire but you will need to be able to collect and return the vehicle to us.

In most cases yes.

Just get in touch with us as soon as you know you need to extend it and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs. The more notice we have the greater chance we’ ‘ll be able to extend you hire.
In some cases we may need to swap vehicles with you in order to continue the hire.

We do our best to accommodate your requirements – and in some cases you can request a model from our available fleet. More commonly we try and match a good vehicle to your needs – based on how many seats and type of wheelchair vehicle you need.

During busy periods it may not be possible to offer specific vehicles.

In order to hire one of our wheelchair accessible vehicles you must be aged between 25 and 75.

In some instances we may be able to hire to someone slightly older than 75 and aged between 21 and 25 – but this is subject to status and you must let us know in advance so we can get insurance approval.

The decision of our insurance company is final and approval may result in a higher deposit and excess charge than the standard advertised rate.

Unfortunately we cannot hire our wheelchair accessible vehicles if they are to be used for private hire / hire & reward / or as a taxi.

For our long term hire there is a standard minimum hire period of one month – this applies to most hires.

If you need a shorter amount of time we do offer daily and weekly hire – provided you are able to collect and return the vehicle to our office near Bath, BA2 9HN.

You can hire a WAV for as long as you require but there are a few things to bear in mind.
If you need for longer than a year – the vehicle will need to be MOT’d each year – we will contact you when this needs to be done and will help you organise it (it can be at a garage local to you and we will arrange payment)

If yuou are considering a very long hire period of mutiple years – please spaak to us as it may be more cost effective to purchase a WAV

Our wheelchair vehicle delivery covers most of mainland UK (please call if you are not on the mainland) and is charged from £1.50^* per mile for delivery and collection.

To qualify for delivery the minimum hire period is one month, but this is dependant on distance from our office.
Delivery costs excludes any additional charges such as toll roads etc.
There is a minimum delivery charge of £50
