Up-Front or Rear wheelchair models
The Fiat Doblo is converted by a couple of companies offrering different configurations.
The Wilson-Healy conversion allows the wheelchair passenger to ride up-front with a unique front access ramp.
Gowrings offer an alternative conversion for those looking tio accommodate a rear wheelchair passenger. This conversion offers a rear ramp.
Fiat Doblo Seating
Depending on your choice of front or rear wheelchair there are different seating configuratons.
The rear-wheelchair Gowrings conversion offers either three or four seats versions with two seats in the front and one or two seats in the rear with the wheelchair in between or next to the rear seats.
The Up-Front conversion has a drivers seat with the wheelchair passenger in the front passenger space and three passenger seats in the rear.
Available space
The compact Fiat Doblo is not a large vehicle and does not offer as much space for shopping or luggage as some other WAV.
If you opt for a rear-wheelchair version there is not much room on-board once a wheelchair passenger has put secured in place. Perhaps enough for a few shopping bags.
On the other hand as the up-front model does not have a rear ramp there is room for a full sized boot – enough for plenty of shopping bags and luggage.
Ease of use
The Fiat Doblo is a popular vehicle and while it doesn’t have lots of the bells and whistles of other WAVs – this does have the benefit of making it simple to use.
As standard the ramps are manually operated. The rear ramps can be converted to a power ramp, however due to the complexity the up-front ramp cannot be converted to a power version (although power versions may be available)
Doblo’s do not often come with winches hoever these can easily be added to the rear wheelchair versions. Due to the available space the up-front wheelchair versions cannot take a standard winch. We may be able to arrange a bespoke front winch but this will cost significantly more tahn a stndard winch.
